Who can apply for a project grant?


Project grants are available to non-profit organizations registered in Finland with a valid Business ID and at least one year of operational history.

 

What kinds of projects are eligible for funding?


We fund projects that promote animal rights and/or nature conservation in Finland. For detailed thematic guidance, see the Focus Areas section.

 

What types of activities are not eligible for funding?


We do not award grants for scientific, artistic, or cultural activities, nor for projects carried out abroad. General operational grants are also not awarded through this project grant call.

 

When must the application be submitted?

The call is open on a continuous basis. Applications must be submitted at least four months before the planned start of the supported activities.

 

How and when are funding decisions announced?


Decisions are announced on the Adventurous Ideas Oy website and sent to all applicants by email. Applications are reviewed approximately four times per year.
In 2025, decisions will be announced at the end of the year; in 2026, they will be published in February, May, August, and December.

How do I apply?

Applications must be submitted through the electronic grant system. The form includes sections on applicant information, project description, actions and objectives, monitoring plan, budget, and funding plan.

 

Can I send the application or its attachments by post?

No. All applications and attachments must be submitted through the grant system. Applications sent by other means will not be processed.

 

What is the eligible grant amount per project?


The grant amount ranges from €1,000 to €50,000 per project. Funding may be granted for a maximum project duration of two years.

 

Can general overhead costs be included in the application?


Yes. Overhead costs may account for up to 20% of the total budget.

 

Is self-financing required?


Self-financing is not required. However, if the project includes self-financing or other external funding, these must be stated in the application.

 

Can funding be requested for an already ongoing project?


Yes. Funding can be requested for new, ongoing, or continuation projects. Please note that payment of the grant is possible no earlier than four months after submission.

 

Can an individual or informal working group apply for a grant?


No. The applicant must be a registered organization with a Business ID.

 

Are collaborative projects allowed?

Yes. Collaboration with other actors is allowed, but funding can only be used for the eligible organization’s own expenses.

 

How are applicants informed about decisions?


All applicants will receive an email notification regarding the decision. Granted projects will also be published on the Adventurous Ideas Oy website.

 

How can I cancel my application?

If you wish to cancel a submitted application, please send a message through the grant system.

 

Can project grants be used for international activities?

No. Project grants are intended exclusively for activities in Finland.

 

When is the grant paid out?

After receiving a positive decision, the recipient must complete a payment plan detailing the full use of the grant. Approved payment plans are processed monthly. Grants do not need to be paid in a single installment — payments can be divided across several months or years.

 

When must the interim report be submitted?

For projects lasting more than 18 months, an interim report must be submitted 12 months after the start date and no later than one month after the reporting deadline.

 

When must the final report be submitted?

A final report is required for all funded projects and must be submitted within three months of project completion.
