Adventurous Ideas Oy supports non-profit initiatives that promote animal rights and nature conservation in Finland. Applications for project grants are submitted through our electronic grant platform.
Applications related to both animal rights and nature conservation are submitted via the same form. The form asks for basic applicant details, a project description, planned actions and objectives, monitoring methods, a funding plan, and a detailed budget. Instructions for required attachments are provided within the system, and the full structure of the form can be viewed on the platform.
The Adventurous Ideas Oy project grant call is open on a rolling basis. The application period began on 13 August 2025. Project evaluations are conducted four times per year, with decisions published at the end of 2025 and in February, May, August, and December 2026. Supported projects may be new, ongoing, or continuation projects. Funded activities may begin no earlier than four months after the application is submitted.
Please note that all applications and attachments must be submitted via the grant system. Applications sent through other channels will not be considered.
Questions about the application can be sent to the giving back team through the grant system. Technical issues should be directed to technical support.
Project grants are available to non-profit organisations with a valid Finnish Business ID (Y-tunnus) that have been operating for at least one year. Grants are directed at organisations registered in Finland.
Funding is awarded to projects that promote animal rights and/or nature conservation in Finland. More detailed information on focus areas can be found in the Focus Areas section. Grants are not awarded for scientific, artistic, or cultural work, nor for projects outside Finland. General operational grants are not provided through this call.
The maximum project duration is two years. Applications may be submitted for new, ongoing, or continuation projects. Grants may be paid no earlier than four months after the application is submitted.
The amount awarded per project ranges from €1,000 to €50,000. Overhead costs may account for no more than 20% of the total budget. A self-financing share is not required; however, if the project includes self-financing or other external funding, this must be clearly stated.
Collaborative projects with for-profit entities or other ineligible actors are allowed, but funding may only be used to cover the eligible organisation’s own costs. Grants cannot be used to cover the costs of partners who do not meet the eligibility requirements.
Project proposals are assessed by the giving back team at Adventurous Ideas Oy and by appointed experts involved in project evaluation.
Applications are evaluated based on the following criteria, depending on the project’s nature:
Applicant Expertise and Project Feasibility
We assess the applicant’s experience and expertise. Previous accomplishments strengthen an application, but new or less established actors may also receive funding. In such cases, other evaluation criteria carry more weight. We pay particular attention to the coherence of goals, actions, and timeline, as well as the efficient use of resources.
Project Relevance and Impact
We assess how effectively the project advances animal rights or nature conservation relative to its scale. Long-term impact and the ability to reach the intended audience are important considerations.
Alignment with Adventurous Ideas’ Giving Back Strategy
We evaluate how well the project aligns with the focus areas and strategic goals of Adventurous Ideas Oy’s giving back activities. We also consider the project’s level of innovation and its potential to generate new impactful solutions.

Applicants will be informed of decisions by email. If awarded a grant, recipients must submit a payment plan and sign a grant agreement through the electronic grant system.
The payment plan must be submitted within two months of receiving a positive decision. The project’s nominated contact person is responsible for submitting the plan. Please note that July is the holiday period for Adventurous Ideas Oy, during which new payment plans are not processed. Payments based on previously approved plans may still be processed. If changes to an approved plan are needed, contact the giving back team through the system.
All projects are required to submit a final report. Projects lasting at least 18 months are also required to submit an interim report. Interim and final reports for funded projects are submitted through the electronic grant management system.
The interim report must be submitted 12 months after the start of the project and no later than one month after the reporting deadline. The interim report assesses the project’s progress in relation to the project plan, the progress made towards the project’s objectives, and how the project’s progress is reflected from the perspective of Adventurous Ideas Oy’s grantmaking focus area or areas. The interim report must also state the project costs incurred by the reporting date that have been covered by the grant awarded by Adventurous Ideas Oy. In addition, any other grants received by the project must be listed.
The final report must be submitted within three months of the end of the project. The final report must assess the implementation of the project as a whole and the achievement of the objectives set for it. The report must also assess the project’s outcomes and impact from the perspective of Adventurous Ideas Oy’s grantmaking focus area or areas. In addition, the final report must itemise all project costs that have been covered by the grant awarded by Adventurous Ideas Oy. Any other grants received by the project must also be listed.
Attachments, such as statistics or other relevant materials, may be included with the report if they support the reporting.
The reporting requirements for project grants were updated in May 2026. In addition to the reporting instructions described above, the activities and results of projects are measured, where applicable, using the indicators listed below as part of the interim and final reports. The indicators help us assess the overall picture of our grantmaking activities.
Please note that reporting according to these indicators applies to all projects that were awarded a grant in May 2026 or later. For projects that received a grant before this, reporting on the indicators is voluntary.
In the interim report, the indicators are completed based on the activities carried out by the reporting date. In the final report, the indicators are completed for the entire project period. Please note, however, that not all indicators are relevant to all projects. The indicators are used where applicable, depending on the project.
